Let's Get Sketchy July Week 5

Happy Monday everyone! As some of you may know, when there is a "Fifth Monday" in the month Let's Get Sketchy runs a special challenge that both design teams may contribute to. For the 5th Monday of July it's "Anything Goes"...which means there's no sketch and no specific parameters. That's right...just show off your work! You may create a layout with a past sketch that perhaps you never had the chance to use, create a double page layout using a past sketch, or even use your own design! And that is exactly what I decided to do. As some of you may also know, I design some of the sketches for LGS (as well as other sites such as Colorful Creations), and I have a file full of my own sketches. So using the following sketch which has never been previously published...

I came up with this page...

I hope you decide to join in this week as well...and don't forget to head over to the Let's Get Sketchy blog to see the wide variety of layouts our talented design team came up with!

Paper Secrets

I haven't had too much time to scrapbook in the last two weeks...but for once I'm not going to complain. Last week a friend from California was in Dallas on business, so of course we invited her stay at our house. After being with us for a week she flew home, and the very next day my BFF (also from California) flew out to visit. We haven't seen any of our friends for almost six months, and I've missed them so much that I haven't even thought about the time I might have been able to spend in my scrappy space. And as an added bonus, my BFF is a whiz with the camera as well as photo-editing software so she photographed the below layout for me, taught me how to get my camera settings perfect so I can also take good photographs, and then gave me some tips for what little editing I did need to do.

And without further ado...a layout I did for the current challenge at Paper Secrets, which was to use the provided sketch as well as a "project life" card.

I flipped the sketch and came up with this...
I used some photos of Santiago from this past Easter. He went through a phase when he was about 3 years old that he just would not cooperate with being photographed. But now he's a bigger ham than ever! I just love him in his tie and skinny jeans...I'm seriously taking advantage of him allowing me to "dress" him for as long as possible. My husband wouldn't touch an ensemble like this with a ten-foot pole, but there's no reason my little man can't have swag!

Let's Get Sketchy July Week 4

It's Monday which means it's time for another Let's Get Sketchy reveal! It's hard to believe we're already into the fourth week of July.

Here's the sketch we had to work with...

And here's my take on it...
I used some photos of Paolina opening gifts on her 1st birthday. All I have to say is I. CANNOT. WAIT to get through this batch of glossy photos I ordered. Unfortunately I think there are 100 of them so it might be a while LOL.

Anyhow, please head over to the Let's Get Sketchy blog to get some more inspiration and I hope to see you play along!

A Couple Pages...

Here's a brief post while Paolina naps and Noé is at the baseball game with Santiago. I've been using this short time to myself to work on some scrapbooking and realized I should also actually upload what few pages I've had the opportunity to complete since we've been back from our trip the first week of July. And I do mean FEW...as in two. Summer has been fun, but I am certainly looking forward to having some quiet time to myself in the afternoons again!

First is a page I made with the other team's sketch at Let's get Sketchy!
I used a photo (glossy grrrr!) of Paolina at her newborn photo shoot. Most of the supplies are older product, but there are also some scraps of Bo Bunny Mamarazzi2...a deceivingly versatile collection!

And the other page is for a challenge currently running at About A Boy. I may not be serving on their design team anymore, but I definitely still follow all the challenges there and was fortunate to find the time to get at least one done for July! This challenge was to use the colors red, white and blue (kraft as a background is allowed).
I used a photo of Santiago at about 10 months old...and about a month shy of walking on his own. He loved cruising around the living room but was even  more thrilled when he could walk without the aid of furniture.

Well I think I hear a tiny voice beckoning me from her bedroom. Thanks for looking and hope to post again soon!

Let's Get Sketchy July Week 2

Happy Monday everyone! The kids and I drove up to Des Moines with my mom this past week (for 4th of July) and we just got back to Texas this past Saturday night (and didn't get back to our house until late Sunday morning). We were out there to visit my mom's side of the family, which was fun but...it certainly  feels good to be back home and sleeping in my own bed again. And I am pretty worn out from all the driving...which was murder on my back condition. But we all survived and here we are back to our routine.

And back to another challenge at Let's Get Sketchy. Here is this week's sketch...

And my take on it...

The photos have glare yet again...and I finally figured out why. The last batch of photos I ordered were all glossy finish and I usually get matte. Grrr...well at least I know not to order glossy in the future!

I wish I could have been braver and cut a single photo in half. But I just couldn't bring myself to do it! Most of the other girls on Team B were way braver than me...you should go and check out their takes on the sketch!

Let's Get Sketchy

Now that I am only serving on two design teams, I actually have time to occasionally particapate in Let's Get Sketchy Team A challenges. Well, I guess that's not entirely true since I haven't scrapped in three weeks, and didn't even get my SWC layout done for yesterday. In fact, I'm not even home right now but on a trip with my mom & kids in Des Moines visiting my mom's family. Truthfully I had this done about a month ago...the advantage to being on the LGS design team and getting sketches way in advance. Who knows if I'll get any scrappy time at all this summer? Anyhow...without further ado here's my layout for this week's sketch...

I used a photo of Santiago when he was about 2 years old, acting silly with a gag gift pacifier we had received from one of Noé's co-workers when Paolina was born. The adjoining page I actually completed a while back, and it features Paolina with the same pacifier in her mouth.

Make sure you head over to the Let's Get Sketchy blog to see the sketch that inspired my first page...maybe you will be inspired to play along as well!

Sketches With Color July Challenge

If you've found this post via the Sketches With Color blog than you have probably read the news...but for everyone else here it is...SWC will no longer have two challenges a month. Starting today, July 1st, there will only be one challenge for the entire month. This will enable participants more time to complete layouts or projects. There is also one other change. For each challenge there will still be both a sketch and a color palette, but  the color palette will now be optional. To be eligible for the monthly prize, submissions MUST use the sketch, and if you use the color palette as well then you receive an additional entry into the random prize drawing. Hopefully this is all clear, but if you have any questions be sure to post a comment on the SWC blog or send an email to sketcheswithcolor@gmail.com.

Without further ado here is the sketch and color palette for the month of July...

I'm horribly embarrassed to say, but with all the activities we've been involved with since Santiago got out of school three weeks ago, not to mention preparing & packing for our trip to Des Moines...I never got a layout or even a card completed. Hopefully once we get back I will have time to work on something and link it up. In the mean time please head over to the Sketches With Color blog to see what our talented Design Team came up with using this fun summer palette!
