Apparently I Do "Scrap Much"...

...as I have been on a roll. But this time I used a sketch from Stuck?! Sketches. Although Laura did design this one as well so clearly there's a pattern here! I also played along with Challenge #7 for Scrap Our Stash's Scrap a Thon, which is to use enamel dots or sequins (I have an enamel dot at the top of the page, next to the large brad)

This was another rare opportunity for me to use semi-recent photos. Well "recent" is all relative of course, as these were taken almost 14 months ago..but more recent than the usual 4-6 year old photos I'm typically scrapping! The product is old though...mostly My Mind's Eye Love Me Do and SEI Twitterpated. Although the washi tape is actually a fairly recent purchase...gotta keep my pages somewhat fresh right? Thanks for looking...I'm off to dinner with the hubby and kids to celebrate my birthday which was this past Thursday. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Another ScrapMuch? Layout

InLinkz won't allow users to link up multiple images from the same blog post, so since I have a second layout I created using a ScrapMuch? sketch I have a second quick post. I love Laura's sketches, but what I really love is that she creates such awesome double-pagers, which are super hard to find! I also played along with Challenge #1 for Scrap Our Stash's Scrap a Thon, which is to use three or more layers of patterned paper and/or embellishments. I'm pretty sure my page has both...

These photos were taken a few days after I came home from the hospital with our newborn Paolina. Santiago loved having a new baby sister but he was also craving a little personal attention, so he was thrilled when his papi came home with this kid seat so they could ride together on the bike.

Thanks for looking (again)!

ScrapMuch?

It feels good to be back in the swing of things. Spring Break, as well as a few doctor appointments, really seemed to set me back. But I finally got several layouts done this week. For the below page I used a sketch from ScrapMuch? I also played along with Challenge #5 for Scrap Our Stash's Scrap a Thon, which is to use a banner.

I don't scrapbook chronologically, and I'm years behind in my photos...but every few months I like to get some more recent photos developed. This photo is from Santiago's first day of Kinder this past fall. For product I used mostly Simple Stories Smarty Pants, but I also used some Paper Studio & October Afternoon Report Card paper and a Little Yellow Bicycle Head of the Class embellie.

Thanks for looking and enjoy your weekend!

Let's Get Sketchy March Week 4

Monday is usually not a day to get excited about, so I love that today is the day that Let's Get Sketchy posts new sketches. Here is the last one of March...

And here's my take on it...
Since Easter is right around the corner I was inspired to use some photos from Easter 2011. We were visiting my in-laws, and ironically these pictures of Paolina were taken at the house we are currently renting.

I used a wide variety of scraps for this page...Basic Grey Soleil & Kioshi; Crate Paper Random; My Mind's Eye Laundry Line & Just Dreamy 2. The background paper is My Mind's Eye Breaking Free. I also played along with Challenge #3 for Scrap Our Stash's Scrap a Thon, which is to use anything that sparkles. My "sparkles" are the Glitter Thickers and glittery Easter eggs.

Thanks for looking...hope you take the time to see what the girls at Let's Get Sketchy did with my sketch. I'm sure you will be inspired to play along!

Mother's Day Memories

I don't usually have time to scrap or blog on the weekend...seems like our family is always on the go....but I wanted to pop in to post this layout. I used sketch #72 from My Scraps & More Sketches and I also played along with Challenge #6 for Scrap Our Stash's Scrap a Thon, which is to use misting.

For this page I used a photo of the flowers that Noe (and Santiago) gave me for Mother's Day 2010, when I was pregnant with Paolina. I loved this sketch exactly as is and wanted to keep the title placement the same, but that butterfly paper ended up being too busy of a print, so I moved it down below the photo. As far as mists, I used Mister Huey's Color Mist in Opaque White and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Slate.
Thanks for looking!

My Scraps & More #73

Happy Friday! It's been such a beautiful week...I really hope Spring is truly here to stay. Do you have plans for the weekend? If so, try to squeeze some scrappy time in because My Scraps & More Sketches has a new sketch up today...

I flipped it and came up with this...
I used a photo of the beautiful roses my in-laws gave to me on Mexican Mother's Day last year. Some of the product on this page is so old I can't quite identify it...I do know it's mostly My Mind's Eye and Basic Grey. Thanks for looking and please head over to the My Scraps & More Sketches blog to see the other layouts our talented Design Team created!

Sketch~N~Scrap Guest Designer

So it's bad enough when you do something stupid, but it's even worse when you do something stupid for everyone to witness. I've been blogging for four years so I really do have the basics down...really. I knew that last week was going to be crazy with spring break so I made a point of writing up the below post well in advance and scheduled it to go live this past Saturday. I was so proud of myself for being right on top of things. Nope. I got onto my blog today to write up a new post and saw that it had never published. Apparently I chose "save" and not "publish", so here it was sitting as a draft for the last week. Niiiice. So I offer a sincere apology to the ladies over at Sketch~N~Scrap who were kind enough to offer me a guest designer spot this month. And I encourage all of you to head over to their blog because even though I'm posting this a few days late, you still have until the end of the month to play along.

I'm Guest Designing over at Sketch~N~Scrap for the month of March and this is my layout for the second half of the month. Here's the fun sketch I had to work with...

And here's my take on it...
This page came together so easily. I just used some paint and a mask on cardstock to create my own background paper and then used some paper scraps and border stickers behind the photos. I love sketches like this that help me use up my smaller scraps!

Thanks for looking...please head over to Sketch~N~Scrap to see what their talented Design Team has done with this sketch!

Let's Get Sketchy Sketch-a-thon Blog Hop

Let's Get Sketchy turns 2 this month, and to celebrate we are having two blog hops. Welcome to Hop #2! You should have come from Lyyn G's blog. If not, please go back to the Let's Get Sketchy blog to start the hop from the beginning.

For this hop we would like you to create a layout using the sketch you see below. For an added twist I would like you to use more than one manufacturer and/or collection on your page. I know that some of you like to create layouts using all of one collection, so step out of your box and mix & match!!

Here is my example...

I used a photo that I took of Paolina this past fall with my iPhone (and modified with a photo editing app). She had chosen her outfit that day, and she looked way more outlandish in-person & pre-photo editing...brown zebra print top, pink terry cloth tennis skirt, grey knee socks and black cowboy boots. Thus my reasoning for the quote on the page.

For product I used Bazzill cardstock for the background, I cut strips of a rainbow animal print paper from Hobby Lobby, I used some miscellaneous scraps from Basic Grey and Crate Paper, the ephemera & Chipboard is Pink Paislee, and the brads & button are My Mind's Eye.

Once you have completed your layout, please head back over to the LGS website to upload your entry. Please tag your entry: BH2JENESSA. The more you play, the better your chances of winning this great prize courtesy of Creative Embellishments! ANY PROJECT NOT PROPERLY TAGGED WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THE DRAWING!!!
Now head on over to Devra‘s blog and see the great challenge she has in store for you! Remember you have to have your projects linked up no later than midnight, CST, March 18th!

Here is the lineup in case you get lost!

Pat - BH2PAT
Connie - BH2BONNIE
Laura - BH2LAURA
Lynn G - BH2LYNN
Jenessa - BH2JENESSA
Devra - BH2DEVRA
Lisa - BH2LISA

Happy Hopping!

Let's Get Sketchy March Week 2

Happy Monday! It's Spring Break for us, which means Santiago is out of school this week. If the weather cooperates (as predicted) we will be spending most of it outdoors. While this is way preferable to being stuck inside due to the cold like over our long Winter break, it does mean an interruption to my crafting/blogging schedule since he doesn't take naps in the afternoon to allow me some "me time." Hopefully you will have some free time this week because Let's Get Sketchy has a new sketch reveal today.

I rotated the sketch and came up with this...

This is a photo of Paolina with her bisabuelita (great grandma) on Easter Sunday when we were visiting Dallas in 2011. I had been saving this particular piece of Webster's Pages paper just for this photo...I thought the colors were perfect for it! Fast forward several years and my scrapbooking style has begun to embrace slightly cleaner lines and is definitely not so much "shabby chic" anymore. I still really loved the paper for this photo so I thought I would fussy cut it and give the page a little more white space. I used some Prima flowers...I seriously can't remember the last time I did that! It was actually fun to incorporate some more romantic product into one of my layouts.

Anyhow, I hope you will take the time to head over to the Let's Get Sketchy blog to check out the rest of the pages our talented design team came up with!

My Scraps & More #71

Hello and happy Friday! What could be better than a Friday? Another fun sketch from My Scraps & More Sketches to kickstart your weekend! Here is this week's sketch....

I rotated it and came up with this...

I used photos of Paolina sitting on my dad's lap back when we were visiting Dallas in 2011. I showed her this page and she asked me if that was "Santiago on Opa's lap"? I laughed and told her that it is actually her...back when she was a baby and her hair was short. Funny that she didn't even recognize herself because of the hair! For product I used Maggie Holmes Lucky Charm as well as a few other miscellaneous scraps.

Thanks for looking...now please head on over to the My Scraps & More Sketches blog to see what else our talented designers came up with!

Sketch~N~Scrap Guest Designer

This month I have the immense pleasure of being a Guest Designer over at Sketch~N~Scrap. I'm super excited to have been chosen to work with such a talented team and some amazing sketches.

The below sketch is the first one for March.

And here is my interpretation of it...

I used photos from Paolina's first balloon release to los Tres Reyes. As did her brother when he was the same age, she was more interested in chewing on the balloon strings than the actual festivities. The background paper is My Mind's Eye, the washi tape is Bella Blvd, the buttons are KI Memories and the patterned paper scraps are My Mind's Eye Lime Twist and Basic Grey...Kioshi, Sugar Rush and Soleil.

I hope you will take the time to head over to the Sketch~N~Scrap blog and see what their design team came up with using this sketch...I'm sure you will find lots of inspiration to play along!
