Let's Get Sketchy July Week 4

Happy Monday! Can you believe it's the end of July already?? This is the last week of Santiago's summer camp, he has two weeks of swim lessons, and then there will only be one more week of summer before school starts back up. Even though I've had to drive the kids around a lot, I'm thankful they had organized activities this summer, as last year we got a little stir crazy having only the pool to entertain us. I'm also looking forward to have consistent scrappy time...it's been pretty hit or miss this summer. Speaking of scrappy time...there's a brand new sketch up at Let's Get Sketchy for you to play with...

I flipped the sketch and came up with this...

Please head over to the Let's Get Sketchy blog and see what the rest of Team B came up with, I'm sure you will find lots of inspiration to create your own layout.

Scrappy Friends

It hasn't been a surprise or anything, but I haven't had much scrappy time this summer. I'm lucky to complete a layout a week. And then I still have to find the time to photograph my pages when there is decent lighting, as well as upload them here. Even though it hasn't surprised me that I've had limited scrappy time, it's still disappointing. There are so many great sketches and challenges each month that there is no way I can participate in them all. I was glad to squeeze in some time to play along with the Scrappy Friends July challenge. Brenda's challenge is to use the following sketch...

Rochelle's challenge is to use the following Tic Tac Toe board...

And Kelly's challenge is to use at least one word from the following...

I rotated the sketch and came up with this...
From the Tic Tac Toe board I used Thickers, Stars & Sequins. And from the words I chose "Laugh" in my title. Most of the product is Amy Tan's Pus One...such a fun collection! Thanks for looking.

Scrap & Music

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. This is a hot one in our parts...up in the three digits, with an ozone alert to boot. So we're trying to stay indoors to beat the heat. While the kids watch a cartoon, I figured I would take the opportunity to post this page that I was inspired to create using the current challenge at Scrap & Music, which is to incorporate the song "Crazy" by Aerosmith as well as use the following sketch...

And here's what I came up with...

Paolina loves taking pictures of us using my phone. I think her favorite part is being able to see herself while we take the photos, thus why she is usually making such silly faces.

Thanks for looking and enjoy your weekend!

My Scraps & More Sketch #87

This past Friday a new sketch at My Scraps & More Sketches went live, and I had my layout done way ahead of schedule and had even written up my blog post and scheduled it...or so I thought. I've done this once before and you would think that I had learned  the lesson of checking that my post did indeed go live even when I am positive that I have scheduled it to do so. Unfortunately this has been a hectic summer and I haven't spent much time online. I suppose it's a good thing...not spending endless hours in front of the computer or with my phone attached to my hand, but it's not good for my brain to go on summer break when I still have responsibilities & commitments!

So here is a quick and edited (the intro I had previously written no longer applies) version of the post that should have been up on the 18th.

Here is Sketch #87...

And my take on it...

Even though I am late in posting, you still have until July 31st to link up your own layout!

Let's Get Sketchy July Week 2

Happy Monday! Are you finding the opportunity to scrap this summer? Hopefully you can because it's time for a new sketch at Let's Get Sketchy.

And here's my take on it...

I used photos of Paolina when she turned 6 months old. Both of my kids were such happy babies, and I just love seeing photos of them laughing & smiling like this! For product I used all paper scraps, some K & Company ephemera, and I created my own background using a Crafters Workshop mask and Tattered Angels mists.

I hope you are able to find the time in your busy summer to head over to the Let's Get Sketchy blog for some amazing inspiration, and hopefully you will be able to create your own page with this fun sketch!

Scrap & Music

If it's any indication of how hectic our summer is, I just realized I haven't posted for two weeks! And in that time I've only had the opportunity to get three pages done. Two were design team work and the following layout was just for fun. I was inspired by the current challenge at Scrap & Music which is to use the below sketch and to use part of the song "She Looks So Perfect" as the title.

I adapted it for a single photo and came up with this...
I used a photo of the kids and myself when we were all out for ice cream on Mother's Day this past May. I used a line of the song's lyrics...'Cuz all I really want is you...as a subtitle for the page.

Thanks for looking and enjoy your weekend!
